Wildlife Painting, Pelicans, Snake River “Pelican Pair at Oxbow Bend” by Colorado Artist Nancee Jean Busse, Painter of the American West

Most American artists and photographers know that Oxbow Bend on the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park is breathtakingly beautiful. It also provides a spectacular opportunity for wildlife viewing. This pair of pelicans was perfectly highlighted in a deeply shaded spot along the bank. My photograph of them was surprisingly good (I'm a lousy photographer--always clicking the shutter a fraction of a second too late) and working on this painting was really, really, fun.

White Pelicans

I was in Rockport, TX. when I painted these large white Pelicans. It was a beautiful day when I saw them and their reflections caught my eye. The Gulf Coast is a haven for many species of birds. A great place to paint too.   http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Move it,Kid! by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

I took my reference photos at San Luis Pass,TX. A beautiful area, full of brown pelicans and seagulls. This pelican looked none-too pleased to be sharing a space with this small seagull!
The colors of the water, with the reflecting sunlight on the birds made me want to paint this on the spot.
Thanks for reading my blog and looking at my work. If you are interested in purchasing this painting, or other pieces of my work, please visit my personal blog at: srcartavenue.blogspot.com or contact me at: sandrasart777@aol.com for pricing and other information.

White Pelicans

                                                       White Pelicans

Pelicans look like they can be an awkward and clumsy bird.  In flight pelicans are some of the most graceful of birds.

My husband and I were in Rockport, Tx. not too long ago.  Some fisherman was cleaning their catch of the day and the seagulls were diving into the water for their catch of the day.  Not far away from this entire seagull action was these white pelicans.  I took several photos of the activity going on.  In this painting I liked the way the pelicans are back lit.  Even though it was a very warm day, the shadows of the pelicans in the water appeared cool.

This little painting is 5x7 on 300 lb. watercolor paper.  You may purchase this painting for $75.00.  Thank you for viewing my art.
