This wildlife painting was created from photos and sketches where my dear friend lives on the bayou. This Great Blue Heron stayed on the other side of the river and kept searching for his next meal. He didn't seem to notice us across the way. It was getting later in the day and the sunlight was coming through the trees and created a glow through them. It was a great day. Visit my website at

Oak Grove Retreat-Deer
You have to look for the deer in this painting. Some viewers don't see them right away. Actually, that's the way it is in nature. So I decided to paint a scene with deer almost in plain sight. Deer can almost be right in front of you and you missed seeing it. I bet some deer hunters have a few stories of their own. If you especially like a particular wildlife animal leave me a comment and I will try and paint and post it. Please visit my website for more wildlife at http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Carolina Wren
A little Carolina Wren that loves my back porch. There are rafters that have nice little niches for it to make a nest. I usually know when it is on the porch because for such a small bird it has a big voice. Carolina Wrens are fun to watch because they seem to bounce around like they have springs inside them. This wren is one of the birds that live year round here in my part of Texas. Painting birds and other wildlife is one of my favorite subjects to create.
