Cardinals are year round birds in our area. This bird is a female Cardinal. The sun was shining on her in such a way that she has a golden color to her. Or it could possibly have been the tree leaves nearby. Or maybe I just wanted to paint her a little more colorful. Otherwise I stayed pretty much true to the female Cardinal's anatomy. This is the fifth in the series of song birds I am painting in our area. There are many more small birds on my agenda I want to paint.
